The monument is thrown open to the public on specific timings of the day that are pre-defined by the Archaeological Survey of India. One can see the amazing view of the Taj Mahal from 6 am to 7:30 pm everyday except Fridays and public holidays. On Fridays, it is open to the Muslims who come here to offer prayers at the mosque. The tickets counter remains open only till 5:30.
Foreigners are required to pay Rs. 750 for entry to the Taj, and for Indians, during the sunrise and sunset Rs. 110 is charged, while during daytime Indian visitor need to pay only Rs 20. Some time back, the Supreme Court allowed night viewing of the Taj Mahal only at the full moon ones in specific months. But, now this practice has been discontinued.
